GNPC and Ghana Boundary Commission Bolster Education and Sanitation Infrastructure in Jomoro
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), in partnership with the Ghana Boundary Commission, has commissioned and handed over a newly constructed three-unit classroom block and a six-seater sanitary facility to the New Town D/A School in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.
This intervention is a core component of GNPC’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) strategy, designed to deliver sustainable community impact across key focus areas: education, health, and social infrastructure. The project, executed by the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces, highlights GNPC’s active role in promoting both quality education and improved public sanitation in underserved regions.
During the handover ceremony, Ms. Patience Lartey, GNPC’s representative, emphasized the Corporation's commitment to strategic national and international goals. The project directly supports the government's Education Strategic Plan and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
"Our collaboration with the Ghana Boundary Commission on this initiative underscores GNPC’s unwavering dedication to leveraging petroleum revenues for human capital development," Ms. Lartey stated. "We believe in providing a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for every Ghanaian child, irrespective of their location."
The partnership approach was a key feature of the project's success. The 48 Engineer Regiment was specifically recognized for its exemplary technical expertise and professionalism in delivering a high-quality facility.
The Guest of Honour, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Minister for Transport, commended the joint effort, stressing that such inter-agency partnerships are crucial for effectively addressing critical infrastructure deficits in deprived areas, and called for sustained investment in the Jomoro community.
This facility represents a significant achievement in GNPC’s comprehensive mission to expand access to quality education and elevate community living standards nationwide, further solidifying its mandate as a responsible national oil company and a catalyst for Ghana's broader socio-economic progress.
