GNPC and TOR Strengthen Collaboration to Advance Ghana's Energy Value Chain
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) have agreed to strengthen collaboration to support greater value addition, energy security, and a more resilient petroleum industry in Ghana.
The commitment was made during a working visit by the Managing Director of TOR, Mr. Edmond Kombat, and his management team to GNPC's Petroleum House in Tema, where they met with GNPC Chief Executive, Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, and the Corporation's management team.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the two state institutions to exchange ideas on developments within Ghana's energy sector and explore practical areas of collaboration across the petroleum value chain.
Discussions centred on the government's vision of allocating a portion of Ghana's crude oil for local refining to boost domestic value addition. The two institutions also explored collaboration on energy infrastructure, crude oil supply arrangements, and the role of indigenous institutions in supporting Ghana's evolving energy landscape. Further discussions touched on the strategic importance of the Voltaian Basin Project and the contribution both organisations can make towards unlocking the country's future petroleum potential.
Welcoming the delegation, GNPC Chief Executive Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah said stronger collaboration between the two institutions would maximise value from the country's petroleum resources and support national energy objectives.
TOR Managing Director Mr. Edmond Kombat said the engagement reflected a shared commitment to strengthening domestic refining, increasing value addition, and enhancing the competitiveness of Ghana's petroleum sector.
The meeting concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to continued engagement and collaboration in building a more integrated, efficient, and sustainable energy sector.
