GNPC CEO Positions Ghana as Competitive Destination for Energy Investment at Ghana-UK Investment Summit
Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, Ag. Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has highlighted Ghana's enduring appeal as an energy investment destination, citing a range of upstream opportunities, active sector reforms, and deepening strategic partnerships as key drivers of growth across the petroleum value chain.
Mr. Amoah shared these perspectives during the Energy Investment Opportunities Panel at the Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026 in London. The summit convened government officials, investors, financiers, and industry leaders to explore avenues for trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
Speaking alongside policymakers and senior industry figures, the GNPC CEO outlined available opportunities across Ghana's upstream sector, including open acreage in the Accra-Keta, Saltpond, and Tano basins, as well as emerging prospects in the Voltaian Basin. He described Ghana as a compelling investment proposition, underpinned by a stable operating environment, proven petroleum systems, well-established infrastructure, and a strong track record of productive partnerships between government, GNPC, and international capital.
Mr. Amoah also pointed out active investment in existing producing assets, including ongoing development programmes within the Jubilee and TEN fields and planned interventions to increase gas production from the OCTP Sankofa-Gye Nyame project. He stressed that Ghana's next phase of growth hinges on sustaining output from mature fields, advancing frontier exploration, expanding gas infrastructure, and cultivating the conditions necessary to attract long-term capital. He further highlighted prospects being explored through GNPC's exploration subsidiary, Explorco, particularly within the Voltaian Basin, while reinforcing the significance of ongoing policy and fiscal reforms in strengthening competitiveness and investor confidence.
"Partnership remains central to the future of Ghana's petroleum industry. “Our objective is to create an environment where investors can deploy capital with confidence while ensuring the country continues to derive long-term value from its resources," he said.
The Ghana-UK Investment Summit forms part of broader efforts to deepen economic ties between the two countries and showcase opportunities across priority sectors. For GNPC, the event served as a critical platform to engage prospective investors, consolidate existing relationships, and contribute meaningfully to conversations shaping Ghana's energy future.
