GNPC, GMT Explore Collaboration to Support Specialist Healthcare
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) have begun discussions on possible areas of collaboration to support specialist healthcare delivery in Ghana.
The discussions took place at GNPC’s Petroleum House, where leaders from both institutions shared perspectives on their respective health interventions and explored opportunities to extend the reach and impact of healthcare investments.
GNPC Chief Executive, Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, said the Corporation continues to receive requests for support across various areas of healthcare, alongside several existing and ongoing health projects.
He noted that while GNPC will continue to prioritise interventions within its areas of operation, strategic partnerships offer an opportunity to support larger health initiatives with clear national value.
Over the years, GNPC’s health investments have included support for community health facilities, emergency care, medical research, and other interventions aimed at improving access to healthcare across the country.
The Managing Director of the GNPC Foundation, Madam Helga J.M. Boadi, further shared an overview of the Foundation’s health interventions and its approach to supporting healthcare delivery in communities.
Administrator and Lead of the MahamaCares Secretariat, Madam Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, subsequently briefed the GNPC team on the mandate of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund and its efforts to improve access to specialist care for non-communicable diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease.
She said collaboration with corporate institutions would complement the Fund’s work and help expand access to specialist healthcare nationwide.
The discussions culminated in an agreement for the two institutions to share information on their respective health projects to identify potential areas for collaboration. Technical teams from both institutions will then engage to assess potential projects before considering any formal partnership.
This engagement is part of GNPC’s approach to working with relevant institutions to enhance the impact and sustainability of its social investments, while ensuring its interventions respond to identified needs and deliver value to beneficiary communities.
