GNPC Partners KNUST to Bridge Academia and Industry at 2026 Career Fair
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in partnership with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), has successfully hosted the 2026 Career Fair at the College of Engineering Forecourt, bringing together students and leading industry players for two days of career development, networking, and knowledge sharing.
The event provided engineering students with a valuable platform to engage with professionals from diverse sectors, gain practical career insights, and explore internship and employment opportunities within Ghana's engineering, energy, and allied industries.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Provost of the College of Engineering, Professor Kwabena Birirwum Nyarko, encouraged students to maximise the opportunities presented by the career fair by actively engaging with industry representatives and expanding their professional networks. He noted that this year's event, held under the theme “Inspiring Eminence: Empowering Engineers for a Better Tomorrow,” celebrated excellence, achievement, aspiration, and the strong partnerships that continue to shape the future of engineering in Ghana.
Representing GNPC, the Manager for Resourcing and Organisational Development, Miss Agatha Amos, emphasised that the Corporation's participation in career fairs forms part of its Human Resources operating model, which seeks to build sustainable talent pipelines for the future. She expressed satisfaction with the impressive student turnout, describing it as a positive indication of growing interest among young engineers, and voiced optimism that participation would continue to grow in subsequent editions of the programme.
As part of the Career Fair activities, the GNPC delegation also delivered a presentation during the Alumni Connect Session, introducing participants to the Corporation's operations, strategic objectives, and career opportunities within Ghana's national oil company. The session gave students valuable insights into GNPC's pivotal role in Ghana's petroleum industry, inspiring them to pursue careers that will contribute to the sustainable growth and development of the nation's energy sector.
A highlight of the programme was an awards ceremony held at the Kumaplay Auditorium to recognise outstanding students and partners for their exceptional achievements in engineering education and professional development. Among the award recipients were six beneficiaries of the GNPC Scholarship Programme, honoured in the categories of Most Excellent Student, Most Improved Student, and Best Graduating Student, underscoring GNPC's commitment to nurturing academic excellence and developing the country's future engineering talent.
The 2026 KNUST Career Fair reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in preparing the next generation of engineers. Through initiatives such as this partnership, KNUST and GNPC continue to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and professional networks needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive engineering landscape.
