GNPC Strengthens Academia-Industry Partnership at KNUST Career Fair, Receives Award for Excellence
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has reinforced its commitment to nurturing future industry leaders by engaging with final-year students at the 2025 Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Career Fair. In recognition of its dedicated and sustained support for student development and faculty engagement, the KNUST Career Services Centre presented GNPC with a prestigious Industry Award during the three-day event, held from June 4th to 6th.
The Corporation aimed to bridge the gap between academia and the dynamic demands of the oil and gas sector. A key objective was to identify high-potential candidates for GNPC's National Service program, which serves as a primary pipeline for talent development within the Corporation.
A high-level delegation from GNPC, comprising representatives from Human Resources, Engineering, Geology, and Corporate Affairs, interacted directly with students. Mr. Daniel Ayihi, the Deputy Human Resource Manager, delivered a comprehensive presentation on GNPC's strategic vision, its critical role in Ghana's energy sector, and the technical competencies required to drive its operations.
"Our engagement at KNUST is a core component of our strategy to build a sustainable and skilled workforce for Ghana's energy future," stated Mr. Ayihi. "We are committed to providing a clear pathway for graduates to transition from academic learning to impactful careers that contribute directly to national development."
A major highlight of GNPC’s engagement was an aptitude test administered to final-year students. This assessment serves as a crucial first step in the selection process for the Corporation's highly competitive National Service intake, offering successful candidates invaluable hands-on experience in the petroleum industry.
The award from KNUST's Career Services Centre acknowledges GNPC's consistent investment in university-level talent development. GNPC's active presence at such events underscores its strategic focus on closing the skills gap and inspiring the next generation of professionals to lead Ghana’s energy sector.
