GNPC Supports Tema Traditional Council’s Homowo Celebrations

As part of its longstanding relationship with traditional authorities and communities, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has made a cash donation to the Tema Traditional Council in support of this year’s Homowo Festival.

The gesture, led by the Corporation’s Social Performance Department, forms part of GNPC’s engagement with its stakeholders and recognition of the cultural traditions and institutions that remain important to the communities within which it operates.

GNPC’s delegation, led by Manager, Social Performance, Ms Patience Lartey, was received by the Mankralo and Acting President of the Tema Traditional Council, Nii Adjetey Agbo II, together with Nii Amarh Somponu II, Shipi, Stool Secretary and Spokesperson, and other members of the Council.

Sharing the purpose of the visit, Madam Lartey noted that GNPC places importance on sustained engagement with traditional authorities and holds the customs and institutions they represent in high regard.

She said the Corporation’s support for the Homowo celebrations builds on the cordial relationship between GNPC and the Tema Traditional Council and provides another opportunity to strengthen ties with the traditional leadership and people of Tema.

“For us at GNPC, this is also about recognising the importance of our traditional institutions and maintaining the relationships we have built over the years. Homowo is an important celebration for the people of Tema, and we are pleased to share in the occasion and support the Traditional Council,” she said.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Traditional Council, Nii Adjetey Agbo II expressed appreciation to GNPC for the gesture and acknowledged the Corporation’s continued engagement with the Council.

He noted the importance of maintaining good relations between institutions operating within Tema and the traditional authorities and expressed the Council’s appreciation for GNPC’s support for this year’s celebrations.

Madam Lartey wished the Traditional Council and the people of Tema a successful Homowo celebration and urged the youth and all celebrants to mark the festival peacefully and responsibly.
