GNPC’s DCE, Exploration & Production, Named Finalist for African Explorationist 2026
Ghana National Petroleum Corporation’s (GNPC) Deputy Chief Executive, Exploration & Production, Michael Aryeetey, has been named a finalist for the African Explorationist 2026 recognition, acknowledging his contribution to Africa’s exploration and upstream petroleum industry.
Mr. Aryeetey was acknowledged during a brief ceremony on the final day of the Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2026 conference in Accra in recognition of the technical expertise, leadership, and contributions of professionals driving exploration and advancing the continent’s upstream petroleum industry.
The recognition comes as Ghana is intensifying efforts to sustain exploration activity, attract investment, and maximise the value of its petroleum resources. In his role as DCE, Exploration & Production, Mr. Aryeetey provides strategic leadership across GNPC’s exploration and production portfolio, driving initiatives to unlock new exploration opportunities, strengthen technical capabilities, optimise upstream assets, and position Ghana’s petroleum sector for sustainable, long-term growth.
The African Explorationist recognition further underscores the importance of technical leadership and expertise in navigating the increasingly complex exploration landscape, characterised by evolving geological frontiers, technological advancement, capital discipline, and the need to unlock new hydrocarbon resources responsibly.
Speaking on the recognition, Mr. Aryeetey said the achievement reflects not only his professional contribution but also the collective expertise, dedication, and efforts of GNPC’s technical teams in advancing the Corporation’s exploration agenda and strengthening Ghana’s position in Africa’s upstream petroleum industry.
The recognition at AOW 2026 also provided an important platform to highlight Ghana’s continued commitment to exploration and the development of the technical competencies necessary to sustain the country’s upstream petroleum industry.
