Jubilee and TEN Partners Launch Second Edition of Tertiary Scholars Aid Programme
The Jubilee and TEN Partners have officially launched the second edition of the Tertiary Scholars Aid (TSA) Programme, reaffirming their long-term commitment to fostering educational excellence and socio-economic growth within host and impacted communities in the Western Region.
The launch event, held in Takoradi, signalled the commencement of the 2026 selection process. Between January 29 and 30, a total of 120 shortlisted applicants underwent rigorous interviews. From this competitive pool, 50 high-achieving but financially disadvantaged students from seven coastal districts will be selected to receive comprehensive scholarship packages.
To ensure a selection process that was as balanced as it was rigorous, the Partners assembled a multi-disciplinary panel representing a true cross-section of Ghanaian society. The oversight body blended industrial expertise with community advocacy, featuring key regulators and operators such as GNPC, Tullow Oil, and the Petroleum Commission.
To maintain high academic standards, leadership from Takoradi Technical University provided vital educational insights. Rounding out the group were voices from the public sector and grassroots organizations, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Western Regional Association of NGOs, and the Canoe and Fishermen Council, ensuring that the interests of both the environment and the local community remained central to every decision.
Ms. Patience Lartey, Manager of Social Performance at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), emphasized the integrity of the exercise:
"The TSA programme is about ensuring that opportunity is extended fairly and transparently to the young people within our host communities. By supporting these scholars, we are building the human capital necessary to drive both local community growth and national development."
The TSA Programme serves as a holistic support system for students pursuing critical disciplines at public universities, nursing schools, and teacher training colleges. This includes fields such as Engineering, Information Technology, Law, Business Management, and Health Sciences.
This year’s cohort builds on the success of the 2025 maiden edition, which supported 120 students with a package covering tuition, accommodation, laptops, and monthly stipends. Beyond financial aid, beneficiaries receive dedicated mentoring and counselling services designed to support their academic growth and overall well-being.
As a cornerstone of the Jubilee and TEN Partners’ broader community investment strategy, the TSA Programme aims to strengthen the bond of trust with local stakeholders while contributing to the sustainable development of the Western Region. For the applicants, the programme represents more than just financial relief it offers a pathway to a brighter future.
