Jubilee and TEN Partners Strengthen Engagement with Western Region Stakeholders

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), in collaboration with its Jubilee and TEN partners, has deepened stakeholder engagement in the Western Region through a pivotal dialogue with traditional authorities and key community representatives.

The engagement, held in Takoradi, formed part of ongoing efforts to promote transparency, strengthen collaboration, and address issues relating to offshore operations, community development, and industry sustainability. It provided a platform for open discussion on activities in the Jubilee and TEN fields, as well as social investment programmes supporting coastal communities.

The meeting brought together Paramount Chiefs from across the region, including Nana Kobina Nketia V, Paramount Chief of the Essikado Traditional Area and President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs; Nana Kwesi Agyeman VI, Paramount Chief of the Lower Dixcove Traditional Area and Vice President of the House; and Obrempon Hima Dekyi XIV, Paramount Chief of Upper Dixcove, among others.

Representatives of Tullow Oil, led by Social Performance Manager Mr. Edmund Fifii Enchill, provided updates on offshore operations and outlined ongoing social intervention programmes within the partners’ operational areas. Discussions also addressed offshore safety, with particular emphasis on the risks associated with canoe incursions into restricted operational zones.

Stakeholders further engaged the partners on the production outlook for the Jubilee and TEN fields, including strategies to sustain output and unlock new exploration opportunities within Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.

Providing an update on behalf of GNPC, Ms. Patience Lartey, Manager, Social Performance, noted that, like many mature oil fields globally, Jubilee and TEN require sustained investment, advanced technology, and ongoing exploration to sustain long-term production.

She highlighted key initiatives being pursued by the partners in collaboration with the Government of Ghana. These include deploying advanced seismic technologies, such as Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN), to enhance subsurface imaging; ongoing block promotion efforts to attract new investment; and continued exploration activities, including work in the Voltaian Basin.

The engagement concluded with a renewed commitment from both the partners and traditional authorities to maintain constructive dialogue, support responsible offshore operations, and advance development initiatives that enhance livelihoods in host communities.
