The 2022 edition of the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) finally gets underway in Houston USA from 3rd to 5th May as high-level delegation from Africa, and the rest of the world, converge in the American oil city.

The launching ceremony of the Ghana Pavilion at the NRG Park in Houston, was held at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation's (GNPC) stand. The annual conference and exhibition provides an opportunity for companies in the oil and gas value chain to network & develop new business partnerships with people across wide range of disciplines.

In his welcome statement the Chief Executive Officer of GNPC, Mr. Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah was upbeat that this year's "conference and exhibition will provide a great opportunity for the GNPC team to interact with industry players, form partnerships and familiarise with new technology in the industry that will help the Corporation as it expands its Offshore and Onshore activities"
The Hon. Deputy Minister of Energy, Dr. Mohamed Amin Adam who launched the Ghana Pavilion called on investors to take advantage of the opportunities in Ghana's Offshore and Onshore oil blocks. "He added that, furtherance of this, the Ministry of Energy will commence the process to offer new oil blocks for exploration through direct negotiations in both the Western as well as the Eastern basins of our country." He indicated that "data from the Ghana Statistical Service, shows that real economic growth for 2021 is about 5.4% which outperformed what was projected for the year at 4.4%., a strong indication of the return of our economy from pre-COVID times." He went further to say that "the return of our economy means we must position the oil and gas industry to play its strategic role of generating revenue for the state, creating jobs for our people, adding value to the economy, and improving our trade balance"

He assured potential investors that Ghana's oil investment climate must be counted as one of the most liberal in Africa if not the world. He reiterated the fact that Ghana's petroleum fiscal system is investor friendly, the licensing system is transparent and provides investor certainty as well as accommodate different financial products including risk capital and concessional facilities for the development of Ghana's oil and gas resources.

The conference ends on Thursday 5th May.
